Home Developer UUID Generator
All toolsGenerate random version-4 UUIDs, one or in bulk, ready to copy.
A UUID is a 128-bit identifier used as a unique ID for database records, files, sessions and API resources. This generator creates proper random version-4 UUIDs — one at a time or in bulk — using your browser's secure random generator, ready to copy straight into your code or database.
A v4 UUID is built almost entirely from random numbers — 122 of its 128 bits are random — which is why collisions are practically impossible without any central registry assigning them.
Effectively yes. GUID is Microsoft's name for the same 128-bit unique identifier format, widely used in Windows and .NET; the values are interchangeable.
In practice, no. You would need to generate billions of UUIDs per second for years before a collision became likely — that is the point of the format.
