Background Noise Canceller

Remove background hiss, hum and fan noise from audio — or from the voices in a video, and download the cleaned video.

About the Background Noise Canceller

The Background Noise Canceller cleans up recordings by reducing the steady background sounds that sit underneath speech — fans, air conditioning, hiss and electrical hum. Drop in an audio file to get a cleaned WAV, or drop in a video and it cleans the voices on the sound track, then rebuilds the video with the cleaned audio so you can download the finished video. A strength slider and a Voice mode let you balance noise removal against natural sound, and you can compare before and after side by side.

How to use it

  1. Choose or drop an audio file (MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG) or a video.
  2. Set the noise-reduction strength between 10% and 100%.
  3. Turn Voice mode on if the recording is mainly speech.
  4. Listen to the cleaned result next to the original, then download the cleaned WAV — or, for video, the cleaned video.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of noise does it remove best?

Steady, constant background noise — fans, air conditioning, computer hiss and mains hum. Sudden sounds like keyboard clicks, doors or other voices are much harder to remove with any tool.

Does it work on the voices in a video, or only audio files?

Both. With a video it cleans the sound track and then puts the cleaned audio back into the video, keeping the picture and length the same, so you download a finished cleaned video.

What do I download?

For audio, a cleaned WAV file. For video, a cleaned video (MP4 where your browser supports it, otherwise WebM), plus the cleaned WAV if you want the sound on its own.

Is my recording uploaded?

No. All processing happens on your device in the browser — recordings never leave your phone or computer.
