All toolsFind percentages, what percent one number is of another, and percent change.
The Percentage Calculator covers the three percentage questions that come up constantly — in discounts, exam marks, tips, tax and price changes. One mode finds a percentage of a number, another finds what percent one number is of another, and the third works out percentage increase or decrease between two values, with a plain-English explanation of each result.
Divide the percentage by 100 and multiply by the number. For example, 20% of 150 is 0.20 × 150 = 30 — the first mode does this for you.
Work out the percentage of the original price, then subtract it. Or use % change mode afterwards to check the saving. A 30% discount on 80 means you save 24 and pay 56.
Subtract the old value from the new value, divide by the old value, and multiply by 100. A rise from 80 to 100 is (20 ÷ 80) × 100 = a 25% increase.
