Base64 Encoder / Decoder

Encode text to Base64 or decode it back, with full Unicode support.

About the Base64 Encoder / Decoder

Base64 turns data into a safe string of letters, numbers, + and / so it can travel through systems that only accept plain text — email, URLs, JSON and data URIs. This tool encodes text to Base64 and decodes it back, with full Unicode support so accented characters, Urdu, Arabic, emoji and other scripts survive the round trip correctly.

How to use it

  1. Paste the text (or the Base64 string) into the box.
  2. Press Encode to turn it into Base64, or Decode to turn Base64 back into text.
  3. Copy the result.

Frequently asked questions

What is Base64 used for?

Embedding images and files inside HTML, CSS and JSON as data URIs, sending attachments in email, and carrying data safely in URLs and API tokens — anywhere only plain text is allowed.

Does it handle non-English text?

Yes. The encoder converts text through UTF-8 first, so Urdu, Arabic, Chinese, accented characters and emoji all encode and decode correctly. Tools that skip this step corrupt such text.

Is Base64 a form of encryption?

No — anyone can decode a Base64 string instantly. It is an encoding for transport, not a way to hide or protect information.
